Sudan: WHRD Tahani Abbass wins Martine Anstett’s award

On 8 March 2020, WHRD Tahani Abbass received the Martine Anstett’s Award and was honoured by FIFDH for defending women’s rights.

 Tahani Abbass is among the most vocal WHRDs in Sudan, and she works as an independent journalist. She is among the founders of Biyut Rahima Initiative that focuses on working women. Tahani also participated in creating “I am a Sudanese Woman” campaign which helps women who are victims of the arbitrary Nationality Law. The campaign also cooperates with the multipurpose Women’s Cooperative Union.
Tahani is also a member of the coordination committee of the Sudanese Alliance for Ending Child Marriage and works with the “No to Women’s Oppression” initiative. She is known for her activism journey that has been ongoing since 15 years.
